Building a community of nature lovers

A Life More Wild

Canopy & Stars built a loyal following by sharing the outdoors beautifully - carefully shot, quietly aspirational. They exist to connect people with nature, the podcast had to do the same job in a new form: reach a new audience, match the standards of their socials, and give people a deeper way to belong to it.

Every episode takes you outdoors - usually on foot, sometimes by bike, sometimes in the water - to a place the guest feels truly bound to.

In this case it's a walk along the shores of the Isle of Sheppey with musician Jordan Stephens to find a cabin with a roaring fire.

Six seasons in, listeners have walked with the likes of Hamza Yassin, Fearne Cotton, Charlotte Church and Jordan Stephens. But the famous names are only the draw. The real hook is personal: each guest takes us to a place they're bound to, and tells us why. Recorded on location, with the sound of that place carefully captured and woven through the edit, it does more than describe being outdoors. It puts you there - and leaves you thinking about your own connection to nature.
Transporting the listener
This isn't a studio show, it was never going to be. The brief was nature, so every conversation happens there - a Hebridean hillside, a Dorset beach, a Welsh wood in winter - led by the guest's own bond with that landscape. The edit is as much about the sounds and silences between the words, as it is about words themselves. The result does the one thing the brief asked for: it makes a listener on a packed commute feel, for half an hour, like they belong somewhere wilder.
One podcast, a whole content strategy
The show was never meant to sit on its own. It feeds Canopy & Stars' wider content calendar - a single recording becomes beautifully shot reels, photography and social posts that grow the Canopy & Stars community across every channel. And it opens doors. When a high-profile guest joins the podcast, the relationship rarely ends there: it becomes a stay, a collaboration, a brand partnership. The podcast has become the way Canopy & Stars start those conversations - and the audience it builds feeds straight back into the show.
Close enough to read each other's minds

This works because we're in it together. We're in the room brainstorming, on email bouncing ideas back and forth, part of how the show gets made rather than a supplier at arm's length. Several seasons in, we know the brand, which means less explaining, faster decisions, and a podcast that always sounds unmistakably like them.

The clearest sign it worked

The podcast is exactly how we hoped our brand would sound! 18Sixty have been great to work with and really felt like an extension of our team when planning our podcast. They understand us as a business, but bring their own expertise and experience to the table. We feel like we are in safe hands working with 18Sixty

Winning shows don’t wait

The best brands aren’t waiting for podcasting to settle down. They’re building shows that compound — episode after episode, season after season. If that sounds like the company you want to keep, let’s talk.
